Community BBQ at The Laird

Join us on the 1st Sunday of every month (and 5th Sundays when they occur) from 5:30pm – 7:30pm. VicTennis members volunteer to cook and serve, raising vital funds to keep our club safe, visible, and connected to the broader LGBTQIA+ community. We extend a sincere thank you to The Laird for their ongoing support of VicTennis and for providing a platform for fundraising. The BBQs are always a great time full of conversation, laughter and community spirit

Where the Funds Go

Every snag sold helps sustain our LGBTQIA+ sporting community. Proceeds are reinvested into:

  • Safety & Insurance: Covering public liability for all players, volunteers, and visitors.

  • Visibility: Funding our JOY Radio membership and Midsumma Carnival registration.

  • Giving Back: Supporting Thorne Harbour Health with donations on World AIDS Day.

Get Involved

We are always looking for volunteers or new ways to raise awareness and funds for the club. Contact the VicTennis Committee if you'd like to get involved or have an idea.

A Note on the Venue

The Laird is a "male-only" venue, a status granted by VCAT in 1998 in recognition of its history and service to the gay community. However, several times a year (such as the Northside Bizarre in October and Bruno Disco), the venue opens its doors to the entire community.

We’re proud to bring our events to diverse regional hubs outside of Melbourne and interstate, each offering its own unique charm and a welcoming atmosphere for our players
