Committee members code of conduct

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to set out the standards of behaviour expected of Committee Members. In agreeing to be part of the Committee, each member must also agree to adhere to these codes at all times.

Committee members must:

  • Be diligent in their role, and attend committee meetings or forward their apology before the meeting
  • Consider the welfare of VicTennis' members above on field success
  • Make decisions based on what is best for VicTennis, not for individual interest or gain, and not take advantage of their position on the committee
  • Act as a positive role model and an exemplar of good sporting behaviour
  • Treat fellow committee members with respect and fairness, and leave personal disputes out of committee bounds
  • Ask questions and challenge views of committee members openly and respectfully 
  • Be open to feedback from members and respond appropriately, and honest at all times
  • Adhere to the legislative requirements of VicTennis
  • Declare any conflicts of interest as they arrive and act to ensure that these conflicts don't pose a risk to VicTennis 
  • Not receive gifts that result in personal financial benefit
  • Always look for opportunities for improved performance of the Club operations and Committee functions
  • Not speak to the media about any aspect of VicTennis that could damage our reputation
