We organize a variety of competitive tennis events. They are described
below...
Team Tennis:
Mens team tennis events are organized during both the summer and winter
seasons. Once you sign-up we place you in a team containing players of
equivalent skill levels. Games will be scheduled against other teams and
you will play against people of your own skill level. Team tennis is perfect
for those who want to play competitive tennis or want their games organized
for them. It is also a great way to get to know your fellow members. There
is an additional charge above your membership fee that is used to pay
for balls and court fees.
Summer and Winter Team Tennis:
Currently this competition is played on two surfaces at Elsternwick Park
Tennis Centre (en-tout-cas), Malvern Tennis Centre, Union Street, Armadale
(artificial grass) and Orrong Park Tennis Centre, Cnr. Orrong Rd &
Sydney St., Prahran.
Monday night is competition night with play commencing promptly at 7pm
and usually continuing to 10pm.
There are two grades (A and B) with six teams in each.
Each team has between four and six players. Matches consist of six eight-game
sets with a tiebreaker at eight games all.
Players each play three sets, combining with a different member of their
team for each set.
A competition season runs for fifteen (15) weeks followed by two weeks
of finals. Seasons begin January and July alternately.
The playing cost is approximately $14.50 per night per player. Each Team
pays their total playing fee at the start of the season.
